Edith explores the sensational trial that split the nation, which saw 28-year-old Edith Thompson and her 20-year-old lover Frederick Bywaters put on trial for murdering Edith's husband. Edith was hanged for the crime on 9 January 1923 in what critics now generally regard as a grave miscarriage of justice.
