Candlelit Macbeth in Stratford and Shoreditch

Something wicked this way comes: Macbeth

Anərkē Shakespeare’s candlelit production of Macbeth is to premiere at Stratford’s Holy Trinity Church before a limited run at St Leonard’s Church in Shoreditch.

The company’s work is inspired by the conditions in which Shakespeare conceived his plays. There is no director and a gender-blind ensemble of performers from half a dozen different countries have only a week’s rehearsal.

The cast and creatives are Anthony Renshaw, Bridget Sweeney, David Schalkwyk, Elea Pellone, Hunter Perske, Katherine Abbott, Kirstin Daniels, Michael Joel Bartelle and Rino Pellone.

Macbeth will be performed in Stratford’s Holy Trinity Church where Shakespeare is buried on Saturday 7 and from Monday 9 until Wednesday 11 March at 7PM, and at St Leonard’s Church, Shoreditch, the burial site of Richard Burbage—the first actor to play Macbeth—on Friday 13 March at 2PM and Saturday 14 March at 2 and 7.30PM.
