“Cracking night out”: The Social

A Derby Theatre associate company is to present an immersive, site-specific show in pubs and social clubs in the city.

Not Too Tame will stage The Social, “a show that celebrates all things community and clubland, using Northern Soul music as a vehicle to tell the stories of Derby and North-West social clubs and those who will forever ‘keep the faith’.”

The Social is written by Louise Haggerty, Andrew Butler and Jimmy Fairhurst, who also directs. The cast features Paddy Stafford, Adam Horvath, Rachel Burbridge, Fairhurst and Haggerty.

Not Too Tame’s Fairhurst said, “it’s brilliant to be making live work again and we can’t wait to get back to doing what we do best: giving people a cracking night out.”

NTT produces “immersive, site-specific work that breaks the boundaries of tame, polite theatre to create unique productions that combine quality work with a brilliant night out”.

Commissioned by the Derby Creative Arts Network in partnership with Derby Theatre, The Social will be performed at The Maypole Café Bar, Derby from Tuesday 26 until Thursday 28 October, 102 Social Club, Derby on Friday 29 and Sunday 31 October and Spondon Liberal Club from Wednesday 3 until Saturday 6 November.
