Theatre by the Lake’s first production of the Keswick summer season is the stage adaptation of The Ladykillers and opens in the Main House May 24.
Graham Linehan’s stage adaptation premièred at Liverpool Playhouse in 2011 before transferring to the West End, and was followed by a UK-wide tour.
Theatre by the Lake’s production is directed by Chris Honer, who directed the Christmas production Beauty & the Beast, and features a cast of seven. It also has a large community cast of women who play the roles of Mrs Wilberforce’s friends: with 24 people signing up and taking it in turns to join the professional company on stage during the show’s extensive run.
The professional cast will also be performing in The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, The Children (both from June 6), Dear Uncle (August 1) and Guards at the Taj (August 8), with the plays running in rep (along with My Mother Said I Never Should) until the end of the season.
