At Newcastle Theatre Royal from Thursday to Saturday, balletLORENT presents After Dark. This production takes place with cabaret-style seating on the stage and in the wings with the dancers moving amongst the audience.

In Stage 1 at Northern Stage from Wednesday to Sunday (various times), Curve Leicester and Rose Theatre Kingston present The Cat in the Hat. Both performances of From Shore to Shore (at the Palace Garden Chines Restaurant in Stowell Street on Friday and Saturday) are sold out.

It’s the annual Elevator Festival at Live Theatre this week, celebrating new writing from local playwrights with four plays. First is a double bill of West End Girls by Adam Hughes and W*nk Buddies, created and performed by Jake Jarratt and Cameron Sharp, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday at 7:30. Another double bill—Pops by Charlotte Josephine and Locks, written & performed by Ashleigh Nugent—runs on Thursday and Friday. Finally, The Devil Danced in Our Eyes, a piece of gig theatre by Jonluke McKie & Alli Davies, plays on Friday and Saturday at 6:15 in The Studio.

From Tuesday to Saturday at Alphabetti, SA Productions presents Chatroom by Enda Walsh. Final year students perform their showcase production under the direction of Alphabetti’s Artistic Director Ali Pritchard. On Thursday at 9:00, after Chatroom, Bonnie and The Bonnettes present The Bon Bons Cabaret: God Save the Queens and on Friday, also at 9:00, The Suggestibles School of Improv present Rat Race.

Humanhood’s Torus at Dance City on Thursday is sold out.

Birmingham Royal Ballet brings Beauty and the Beast to Sunderland Empire from Thursday to Saturday.

At the Customs House in South Shields on Thursday, LipService Theatre presents Strangers on a Train Set. Challenging a youth to turn down his music, Irene Sparrow, inventor of the left-handed crochet hook (patent pending, as seen on Dragon’s Den), finds herself under suspicion of murder after the train emerges from a tunnel with the young man dead.

Elysium Theatre’s production of Strindberg’s Miss Julie comes to The Exchange in North Shields from Thursday to Saturday.

Zog, a stage adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s children's book, comes to the Gala Theatre in Durham on Friday (4:30) and Saturday (11:00, 2:00 and 4:00).

The Dad’s Army Radio Show comes to The Witham in Barnard Castle on Thursday.

At ARC Stockton on Saturday at 11:30 and 2:30, Hawk Dance Theatre & The Knotted Project present The Chit Chat Chalk Show, which follows Kiko, a confused young girl, struggling to understand how she feels about the strange new world she lives in. With the help of her quirky new friends, she embarks upon a quest to discover the mixture of emotions and colours that make her unique. For ages 3–8.

The Dad’s Army Radio Show comes to Middlesbrough Theatre on Wednesday. Then on Friday and Saturday, Blackeyed Theatre in association with New Theatre Royal Portsmouth and South Hill Park Arts Centre presents Sherlock Holmes—The Sign of Four.

From Tuesday to Saturday, Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray comes to Darlington Hippodrome.

In Five at Darlington’s Theatre Hullabaloo from Thursday until 5 April (various times), two dancers and a live musician use their eyes and ears, noses and mouths, fingers and feet to discover a world of play that "makes the ordinary extraordinary". (For ages 3–6)

At Harrogate Theatre, The John Godber Company and Theatre Royal Wakefield present Bouncers from Monday to Wednesday in the Main House. Then in The Studio on Thursday is Feral by Sonya Moorhead with live music by The Greyhounds and finally on Saturday at 11:00 and 2:30 Sooty's Magic Show plays in the Main Theatre.
