End-of-life nurse Kate is on a 2-day course for work, where she meets Gemma, a young woman who self-harms. Gemma and Kate spend the night together before Gemma leaves to go to work and Kate returns home.

Michelle has Stage 4 cancer and a stubborn desire to survive, a situation which is having an increasing strain on her relationships with those around her.

When Kate is asked to help a teenage girl locked in her bedroom and Gemma seeks out the nurse from her one-night stand, conflicts and tensions come to the fore and the characters start facing their demons in surprising and unexpected ways.
