Gideon: a play with music

Author(s): Daniel Mawson Company: Bradford Cathedral, Bradford Reform Synagogue and Modalways CIC Running time: 1h 20min approx

Gideon is a new show that tells the true story of young composer Gideon Klein whose tenacity burned brightly even as the world around him collapsed.

Underscored by a live chamber ensemble that reconstructs Klein’s music with the music that inspired him (jazz, folk, classical and more), the show reveals intimate snapshots of everyday life under an increasingly brutal regime… in this case, Prague 1938, as fascism rises and restrictions against Jewish people tighten.
