From May to November, a cast of 14 will perform six plays in total—three in the main house and three in the studio at Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake—with each actor performing in three productions for the venue’s annual summer season.

The plays rotate performance days, to allow people visiting the area for a short time to see more than one. From August, a particularly keen theatregoer could see all six in one week.

The first show destined for the main house, Ben Travers’s classic comedy Rookery Nook, follows the huge popularity of the World War II farce See How They Run! last year.

In the studio, The Winterling by Jez Butterworth is a dark drama that follows West, an ex-London-gangster now banished to an abandoned Dartmoor farmhouse.

Rookery Nook and The Winterling both open on May 24. As the summer progresses, they will be joined by four other plays to complete the season.
