Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre is amongst 16 organisations from across the country invited to apply to the second stage of the Arts Council’s large capital grants funding programme.
If successful, this will give the theatre access to £2m to be spent on ‘Act 3’ of its £11m renovation scheme and will include the building of a new 150-seat studio space in the basement.
More work will be done front-of-house, remodelling balcony seating and creating a larger, more open bar area on the third and fourth floors.
There will also be a substantial investment backstage with work being done on the dressing rooms and renewing technical equipment.
