The Grand Theatre in Blackpool, which is already welcoming—in coming weeks—the National Theatre’s One Man Two Guvnors, The Rise and Fall of Little Voice and pantomime Cinderella, has revealed more attractions in their programme through to spring 2013.

It has already been an exciting year for The Grand, as the theatre gained National Portfolio Status from Arts Council England which is used to develop the venue as a regional centre of excellence for contemporary dance.

Sebastian Faulk’s Birdsong comes to the theatre from February 5-9, presented by The Original Theatre Company and Birdsong Productions Ltd. And that’s followed by A Midsummer Night's Dream March 8-9.

Danny Dyer and Natalie Cassidy will also star in a brand new stage version of Alfie! with dates to be confirmed.

Hansel and Gretel from Co-Opera Co comes for one night only on February 1. Opera and Ballet International are back the following month. Puccini’s Tosca comes to the Grand March 10 with Bizet’s Carmen the following night.

Schools Alive runs from Monday Thursday February 11-14. Later on in February amateur company Fame School of the Arts presents Gypsy from February 19-23. To top off the community performances in the new season, The Works will exhibit young talent from Phil Winston’s Theatreworks from March 22-23.

For younger audiences there’s Milkshake Live! on February 2, Horrible Histories from March 13-17 and Northern Ballet’s Ugly Duckling, March 26.
