Leicester’s Curve is searching for talented performers from across Leicestershire to join the cast of its community production Bugsy Malone.

The musical, directed and choreographed by Nick Winston, tells the tale of a washed-up boxer who is drawn into a twilight world of gangsters during the jazz age.

Curve artistic director Nikolai Foster said, “Curve has a fantastic reputation for engaging with its diverse communities through the annual community production.

“These productions place those with an interest in performing at the centre of our stages, fully supported by a first-class production team. In addition to offering younger performers opportunities to join the cast, our musical director George Dyer is looking for musicians of any age to join the band.”

Curve is looking for actors who are under 18 and with a strong singing voice, although previous stage experience is not necessary. Trumpeters, trombonists, clarinettists, saxophonists, violinists, cellists, guitarists and banjo players are also needed.

Auditions will take place between April and May. Anyone interested in applying should download an application form from the Curve web site before 1 April.

Bugsy Malone will run at Curve from 19 until 28 August.
