Curve, Leicester

Aspiring actors from across Leicestershire are being invited to tread the boards at Curve as part of the Leicester theatre’s fifth birthday.

Curve will be staging seven five-minute plays on Saturday 7 September and is inviting members of the local community to form the cast.

Written especially for the open day by members of Curve’s writers’ programme, the A Play in a Day project will be co-ordinated by Leicester-based director Chris Hill who has previously worked with West Yorkshire Playhouse, The Lowry in Salford and Birmingham REP.

Suba Das, Curve’s associate director for community engagement, commented, “Seven bite-sized plays have been written by emerging local writers and, for most, this will be the first public performance of their work.

“We’re now seeking talented members of the community to bring their words from page to stage.”

Anyone interested should e-mail [email protected] by Friday 2 August.

Auditions will take place at Curve on Saturday 17 August when all applicants must prepare and perform a one-minute monologue of their choice.

The A Play in A Day performance will start at 4:30PM in Curve’s Studio.
