MonologueSlam UK, “the ultimate showcase for actors”, is returning to Birmingham REP.

It gives actors the opportunity to perform in front of an audience as well as a panel of people who are in a position to help their careers move forward.

Performers from all backgrounds and disciplines undertake a series of auditions which include a youth round for those aged 11 to 16. Twenty people are chosen to perform for an audience.

MonologueSlam UK will be hosted by Jimmy Akingbola. The judges will include Roy Mitchell, writer and creator of the BBC TV show New Tricks, Dawn Coulson, producer of the BBC’s Doctors, agent Alex Scanlan and the REP’s artistic director Roxana Silbert.

Minnie Crowe, actress and director of organisers Triforce Promotions, said, “we're really excited to be coming back to The REP after the success of our first MonologueSlam in Birmingham in February.

“There's fantastic talent here and, as a native Midlander myself, I feel it's important that we make the acting industry realise there are talented performers outside the M25. I can't wait for the auditions to see what Birmingham brings to the table.”

MonologueSlam UK will be held in the Studio at the REP on Wednesday 5 November. More information is available at the Birmingham REP web site.
