Northampton’s Royal and Derngate is looking for members of the local community to form a new acting company which will have the opportunity to take part in a forthcoming Made In Northampton production.

The venue’s new artistic director, James Dacre, and a team of professionals will lead two months of workshops for the new Royal and Derngate community ensemble.

Actors will then appear on the Royal stage in the opening production of the 2014 season: a new version of one of Britain’s best-loved novels which will be announced later.

Royal and Derngate producer John Manning said, “This is a unique opportunity to work with a professional acting company and exceptional creative team.

“We recognise that it’s a big commitment for people to make on a voluntary basis—but I think that enthusiastic and talented local actors will get a huge amount out of the experience.”

Auditions will take place at the theatre on Tuesday and Thursday, 3 and 5 December.

To register, download a registration form from the theatre’s web site or pick up a form at the box office. For more information, contact John Manning on 01604 655784 or e-mail [email protected].
