Derby LIVE’s production of Aladdin will have more seats and a bigger stage than any previous panto venue in the city when it opens at Derby Arena.
The multi-use arena and velodrome will be transformed into a black-walled theatre. Aladdin will feature pyrotechnics, special effects and flying carpets.
Alan Cohen, who directs Aladdin, said, “I’m delighted to be directing the first major show in Derby’s stunning new arena space. Paul Holman Associates have a strong reputation for producing traditional pantomimes in the most spectacular way and this brilliant new venue will add further sparkle to an already star-studded big entertainment show.”
As previously announced, Atomic Kitten’s Natasha Hamilton will play Slave of the Ring, Dan Osborne from The Only Way is Essex is the Genie and 5ive’s Ritchie Neville plays Aladdin.
The cast also features Derby favourite Mike “Squeaky” McClean as Wishee Washee, Leon Craig as Widow Twankey and Richard David-Caine and Joseph Elliott as PCs Ping and Pong.
Aladdin runs from Monday 7 December until Sunday 3 January.
