Alphabetti Theatre in Newcastle was awarded Fringe Theatre of the Year at The Stage Awards 2023.
The category saw Alphabetti compete against Little Angel Theatre, London and Omnibus Theatre, London.
Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, Alphabetti was formed by Ali Pritchard in 2012 to meet a demand for a fringe venue in Newcastle and the North East.
Despite being the city’s smallest producing house—it has a main 80-seat space and a new similar-capacity cabaret stage—the independent venue punches above its weight in terms of its artist-led programming and its extensive offstage work.
