Ambassador Theatre Group is helping to build a brighter future by supporting WWF's EarthHour, a symbolic event to focus the world's attention on our planet and the need to protect it.

On 29 March at 8:30PM, ATG's 40 venues will join with thousands of locations globally from Times Square to the Eiffel Tower. Earth Hour's display of darkness has become a global phenomenon with hundreds of millions of individuals coming together each year.

In 2013, 154 countries joined the event. In the UK, more than ten milion people took part, with 280 of the country's landmarks including Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Piccadilly Circus, St Paul's Cathedral, Manchester's Old Trafford Football Ground, Wembley Stadium and Edinburgh Castle joining forces with 3,400 schools and 1,200 businesses.

To celebrate Earth Hour 2014, ATG will be switching off all non-esssential lights in their regional offices, headquarters, and theatres for the hour and encouraging customers and employees to sign up by promoting the event in the theatres.

Shareen Brown, spokesperson for WWF-UK, said, "We're thrilled that ATG will be taking part in Earth Hour again this year and hope that they'll inspire many others to get involved.

"Earth Hour is more than just an hour of darkness. It's a chance for people to come together and send a global message about the need to protect our planet. By taking one simple step to switch off, you'il be joining millions of people from around the world in this special celebration."

ATG's joint CEO Rosemary Squire OBE added, “Our participation in WWF’s Earth Hour is vital because it’s a great way of raising awareness of environmental issues to our customers whilst also highlighting ATG’s own efforts in reducing our impact on the environment.

"Last year’s Earth Hour was a huge success and our teams across the UK really engaged our audiences in the event. Through the work of our Safety, Environmental and Technical (SET) department and the operation of our Always Think Green initiative, we can remain committed to addressing the global issues that affect us all.”
