Annette Hannah in rehearsal for Frankenstein

Eighteen-year-old Annette Hannah is to make her professional theatre debut in Tilted Wig’s reimagining of “the world’s favourite horror story” Frankenstein.

And one of the dates on a tour of Séan Aydon’s new adaption of Mary Shelley’s classic novel is Derby where Hannah was born and still lives.

She said, “the fact that I’ll be performing in Derby Theatre is incredibly exciting. I’ve been to see shows there since before I really understood what acting was and once I really started sinking my teeth into the craft I always had it on my bucket list.

“Derby is my home so it almost feels like I’m giving something back to the place I grew up. I’ll hopefully be having friends and family come along. Everyone’s been ridiculously supportive which is just great.”

Hannah will play Dr Victoria Frankenstein’s assistant Francine. She has considerable television experience, being cast as Mabel Tapioca in the CBBC show The Worst Witch when she was 13. She has since appeared in Netflix’s The Twitcher. In 2016, she appeared in three episodes in season six of HBO’s Game of Thrones as Frances, one of the "little birds"—street children used as spies within King's Landing.

The cast of Frankenstein also includes Eleanor Mcloughlin as Victoria Frankenstein, Basienka Blake in the dual roles of Captain and Richter, Cameron Robertson as the creature, Dale Mathurin as Henry and Lula Marsh as Elizabeth.

Frankenstein will be at Derby Theatre from Tuesday 19 until Saturday 23 September.
