Mess, winner for Best Ensemble at The Stage Awards 2012, is a funny, moving new play with songs based on Caroline Horton’s experiences of anorexia nervosa.

It’s at Bolton’s Octagon Theatre on April 15.

Josephine, Boris and Sistahl are taken from the depths of despair and bafflement to the heights of joy and hope and back again as they struggle to tell the story of Josephine’s anorexia and recovery. Mess is funny and moving, providing a window into a world of addiction and control.

Caroline Horton is joined by Hannah Boyde, a member of the War Horse, ensemble and musician Seiriol Davies, who has previously collaborated with Punchdrunk, writing songs for and performing in The Black Diamond (2011). His original score and songs are performed live.
