Lancaster and surrounding district is set for an artistic August starting with First Friday on August 2.

The monthly celebration of the arts also sees the public launch of Lancaster District Arts Strategy in the city’s Market Square.

This free event will demonstrate how important the arts are to the wellbeing and wealth of the district and will set out how they might develop in years to come.

First Fridays, which have been running since October, are just one example of how the area’s many and various cultural organisations and venues come together to provide a diverse range of events all year round.

On August 2, residents and visitors can enjoy theatre, comedy, music, art and dance.
