Newcastle’s Gosforth Civic Theatre announces twelve performances of a Christmas show specially for children, In a Nutshell.

The clock has stopped at quarter to spring. The World is frozen in winter. Who knew the key to the New Year lies hidden in a Nutshell?

This winter tale tells the story of Little Acorn who wakes up too early to find that it’s always winter, never spring. In a quest to find breakfast for his friend Robin, he embarks on an adventure that takes him to the edge of his world and beyond. But unlocking the secret to this frozen world means that everything must change... Everyday objects transform in a tale of growing up and letting go.

In a Nutshell, created by PuppetShip in collaboration with visual artist Tanya Axford and performed by Alison McGowan and Elena Miller, with a specially created musical score by Ziad Jabero, runs from 21st December until 23rd and then from 28th to 30th at 10:45am and 2:30.

All tickets are sold in groups sitting up to four people and groups sitting up to six people to allow for social distancing. Tickets for up to four people are £45 and up to six £65.

Tickets go on public sale on Friday 20th November at midday though GCT members’ priority booking starts on Wednesday 18th November.

Food from the special Show Menu is available between 11:45 and 12:45 (for the morning performances) and 1:30 and 2:30 (afternoons). Tickets must be booked on the website. Selecting a 'Reserve a Table for Lunch' free ticket when booking for a performance will automatically send a link to pre-order food in the week leading up to the showing.

There will also be a Festive Film Season at the theatre, beginning with Die Hard on Saturday 5th December and ending with Love Actually on Monday 14th December. Also in the season will be Arthur Christmas, The Muppet Christmas Carol and, celebrating 30 years since its release, Home Alone.

The Strictly Smokin’ Big Band returns for their annual Christmas show on Saturday 19th December for one night only this year.
