From a 20th marathon event to a 14-event marathon; a feat of prestidigitation to a radical ritual for resistance—Word of Warning, Manchester’s roaming programme of performance, is back with another Pay What You Decide season for autumn and winter 2019.
It starts with the 20th annual Emergency performance micro-festival on September 21. It sprawls across Hulme from the cavernous NIAMOS in the daytime to the labyrinthine Z-arts in the evening, featuring 34 performances in a day-long marathon of "the bold, the bizarre and the beautiful".
Word of Warning also returns to The Lowry for two visits as part of the WTF Wednesday Pay What You Decide programme.
October also sees another return, that of American performance artist Ron Athey taking over the decaying splendour of NIAMOS on October 23.
