Shubbak Festival, the largest contemporary Arab arts festival, returns for a summer of performance across London from June 23 to July 9 and will also play shows in Kent, Manchester and Liverpool.
This year’s multi-disciplinary programme includes theatre productions from both established and emerging artists, sharing and celebrating the culture of Arab communities.
Highlights include a highly anticipated new work from director Sulayman Al Bassam (The Al-Hamlet Summit; Richard III: an Arab Tragedy), a semi-autobiographical performance starring Colette Dalal Tchantcho (Dangerous Liaisons, Starz; The Witcher, Netflix), a UK première from Palestinian-Irish playwright Hannah Khalil and a staged reading starring Laila Alj (All’s Well That Ends Well, RSC; Homeland, FOX; Ten Percent; Amazon), amongst many others.
