Arts Council England have announced Liverpool's Royal Court will become a National Portfolio Organisation from April.
This is a huge lift for the recently renovated Liverpool theatre, giving it the same national status as other venues in the city such as Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse.
Royal Court will receive annual revenue funding of more than £225,000 per year until 2022.
Meanwhile, The Dukes in Lancaster has secured another four years of funding from ACE.
The Lancaster theatre will receive a total of £256,190 each year from 2018 to 2022.
The Dukes, which is Lancashire’s only building-based professional producing theatre, also receives funding from Lancaster City Council, Lancashire County Council, Lancaster University and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
