Professional services organisation PwC (PriceWaterhouseCoopers) is to support Birmingham Hippodrome’s First Night scheme.

First Night is a ticket discount project for 16-to 23-year-olds. It started in 2011 and now has more than 900 members.

Rob Macpherson, the Hippodrome’s director of marketing and development, said, “We’re committed to encouraging young people to attend performances here with the aim of developing an audience for the future.”

Mark Smith, PwC’s Midlands chairman, added, “We’re delighted to be formally involved in supporting this excellent initiative which gives young people across the West Midlands access to the UK’s most popular theatre.”

As an off-shoot, a team of young first-night bloggers regularly attends press nights to review productions.

One of them, Tal Fox, said, “I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am to have been chosen as a first-night blogger!

“I’m thrilled to be able to share my experiences with others my age and hope I can encourage them to share my passion for the theatre.”
