English National Ballet and English National Ballet School present the third in their My First Ballet series with Coppélia, the comic tale of an eccentric toymaker and his mechanical doll, which comes to the Palace Theatre, Manchester, later this month.
Created with youngsters in mind, but based on Ronald Hynd’s original production, Léo Delibes' melodic score is accompanied with narration from Michael Coleman to ensure everyone enjoys this classic story, allowing children aged three and above to get their first taste of classical ballet.
It all builds on the success of the previous productions My First Sleeping Beauty and My First Cinderella, and will be performed by the English National Ballet School, a touring company featuring second year students of outstanding potential.
Dancers will wear the costumes from the company’s full production giving audiences the look, feel and quality of a classic ballet however the adapted story and choreography will make it more approachable and fun for younger audiences.
