Rapunzel

Rapunzel lets down more than her hair with blood on the bedsheets, whips, nudity and depictions of sex acts, when Newcastle's balletLORENT rewrites the folk tale for an adult audience, touching on themes of miscarriage, child abuse, grief and obsession

And there's a family friendly version for ages 5+.

It’s at Northern Stage September 29 to October 2.

The two shows première in the city ahead of a nationwide tour in 2023.

Both versions turn the allegory, first published in 1812, inside out by exposing stories of secondary characters.
