The Lichfield Lecture is to be turned into a year-round series of events covering all aspects of arts and culture.

The lecture began in 2011 as part of Lichfield Festival and marking its 30th anniversary.

Lectures in the first two years by film producer Lord Puttnam and Sir Jonathan Miller proved so popular that the series has been extended to include other dates.

Novelist and newspaper columnist Baroness Bakewell will give a lecture in Lichfield Cathedral at 7PM on Thursday 20 June.

Joan Bakewell became a household name in the 1960s when she presented the pioneering TV programme Late Night Line-Up and went on to present Heart Of The Matter.

In 2008 the government appointed her a voice for older people.

This year’s Lichfield Lecture within the Festival itself will be given by Dame Harriet Walter on Tuesday 9 July at 8:15PM, also in Lichfield Cathedral.

Tickets for both events are available at www.lichfieldfestival.org or by calling 01543 412121.
