Pun-filled adventure: Over the Top

For the sixth year in a row, Coventry playwright Nick Walker has come up with an alternative show for the city’s Belgrade Theatre.

While Sleeping Beauty runs on the main stage, Over the Top, set during World War I, will ask for your vote with an all-female cast in the B2 auditorium. It is a “heart-stopping, pun-filled adventure, overflowing with uplifting Christmassy comedy”.

Troops on the western front get a surprise visit from a group of suffragettes who are to perform a show to lift their spirits. But with bullets whizzing overhead and howitzers shaking the ground, the troupe gets stuck behind enemy lines and a rescue mission is needed.

Katy Stephens will direct her fourth B2 panto. The cast features Miriam Grace Edwards, Laura Tipper, Aimee Powell and Coventry actor Kimisha Lewis.

Over the Top runs at the Belgrade Theatre from Saturday 1 until Saturday 29 December.
