Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre has suspended performances of Beauty and the Beast after some members of the company tested positive for COVID-19.

The theatre says this has happened “despite extremely robust safety measures being in place and the back-up of understudy actors”. It means the panto will not restart before Saturday 18 December at the earliest.

The Belgrade has “taken the precaution of creating a professionally filmed version of our Beauty and the Beast production”. This will be shown from Friday 10 December in place of live performances.

Two other shows, Santa’s Magical Mystery Guest and A Christmas Carol, are unaffected and will go ahead in the B2 auditorium.
