Theatregoers have donated more than £28,000 for Birmingham Hippodrome to expand its work with 5,250 young people in Birmingham and the West Midlands in 2020.
The theatre joined The Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign which doubled donations between 3 and 10 December. A £20,000 target was quickly beaten.
Money raised will support the Hippodrome Education Network which enables young people from disadvantaged areas to visit shows, participate in workshops and develop career opportunities in the creative industries.
Zaylie-Dawn Wilson, head of learning and participation at Birmingham Hippodrome, said, “to raise more than £28,000 in seven days is phenomenal and we’re truly grateful for these donations which will help us to continue our work with young people and transform lives.”
