Around 190 events have been scheduled for the 2023 Buxton Fringe, with companies from all over the UK and beyond offering more than one show or presenting productions with bigger casts.
Fringe chair Stephen Walker said, “now that COVID is hopefully in our rear-view mirror, entrants are approaching this year's Fringe with confidence and we’re delighted by the ambition on display, whether that’s working with bigger casts, incorporating multimedia technology or simply trying something new. We're excited to discover what the performers and artists have in store for us.”
Theatre makes up a substantial part of the programme. Productions include Magpie Theatre’s Oscar Wilde-inspired musical The Canterville Ghost, a “multimedia exploration of bisexuality” from the Off-Off-Off Broadway Company with I Was a Teenage Bisexual and the return of Belfast company Spanner in the Works with What If by Patricia Downey.
One entrant will visit Buxton from Bavaria, while there will be an online theatre performance from Toronto.
The Fringe will run from Wednesday 5 until Sunday 23 July. The full programme is available at the Buxton Fringe web site.
