Birdie

Birdie is a coming-of-age tale told in a new way, written by Matilda Neill, winner of this year’s Shelagh Delaney Award.

It’s the story of three Geordie lasses on the precipice of growing up. Set in a small town in the North East, they battle expectation, responsibility and extreme weather through steadfast friendship.

Matilda is a writer and comedian from Newcastle, though currently based in Manchester. She is a founding member of Your Aunt Fanny, an all-women comedy collective from the North East, currently creating their third show, and whose podcast, Match Made in 7, is currently available.

Birdie is at Salford Arts Theatre November 10-12. Age guidance: 12+.
