David Bintley’s “mysterious and magical production” of Beauty and the Beast for Birmingham Royal Ballet is to go on a national tour from January until May 2019.
As previously announced, David Bintley will step down as director of Birmingham Royal Ballet in June 2019 after 24 years with the company.
Beauty and the Beast highlights “the intriguing darkness of the original 18th century fairy tale”. Music is by Glen Buhr with designs by Philip Prowse and lighting by Mark Jonathan.
Beauty and the Beast opens at Mayflower Theatre, Southampton from Wednesday 30 January until Saturday 2 February. It then tours to Birmingham Hippodrome, Plymouth Theatre Royal, Edinburgh Festival Theatre, The Lowry, Salford, Sunderland Empire and Bristol Hippodrome until Saturday 4 May.
