Birmingham Rep’s 2023 Christmas production is to be the C S Lewis classic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe which will roar into the city direct from London’s West End.
The production played to “packed” houses at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in 2022 and was seen by a quarter of a million people on its previous 19-week tour of the UK and Ireland.
The Rep’s artistic director Sean Foley said, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a wondrous and beloved family tale. This spectacular show brings the snowy world of Narnia to magical life with amazing stagecraft, astounding large-scale puppets and live music. The production is a thrilling theatrical experience for all ages.”
The show will be directed by Michael Fentiman and is based on the original production by Sally Cookson.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe will run at Birmingham Rep from Tuesday 14 November until Sunday 28 January 2024.
