Knick Knack and Doo Dad - Reasons to be Cheerful

A tale of friendship set on an island of rubbish—that’s how mac Birmingham describes Knick Knack and Doo Dad—Reasons to be Cheerful, part of a series of events to mark the arts centre’s 50th anniversary.

In this new show from Lyngo Theatre, children and adults will join shipwrecked heroes Knick Knack and Doo Dad on the huge pile of non-recycled junk they call home to discover how to celebrate the festive season without shops or money.

The pair turns unwanted scrap into imaginative inventions to help solve the problems caused by the smelly surroundings.

The show features CBeebies’ Patrick Lynch, presenter of Let’s Celebrate and Razzle Dazzle, and Carlo Rossi who for 10 years appeared on Melavisione, the most-watched children’s programme in Italy.

Patrick Lynch commented, “We’re really excited to be bringing Knick Knack and Doo Dad—Reasons to be Cheerful to Birmingham this winter and can’t wait for everyone to join us on Knick Knack and Doo Dad’s island of waste to see what we can find—and more importantly, all the brilliant things we can do with it! We wish you a smelly Christmas.”

Dorothy Wilson MBE, chief executive and artistic director of mac Birmingham, added, “Lyngo has a solid reputation for producing fun and imaginative shows and we’re sure Knick Knack and Doo Dad—Reasons to be Cheerful will continue to build on that, giving children and families an immensely enjoyable experience that they’ll share and remember for years to come.”

The show runs from Tuesday (13 November) until Sunday 2 December.
