Dean Osgood and Molly Atkinson in Special Measures

Blackboard Theatre is to present for Buxton Fringe a live video recording of a read-through of Special Measures, a tour of which was cut short due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The play is written by secondary drama teacher Dean Osgood and primary school teacher Molly Atkinson. Special Measures explores why more teachers are leaving the profession than ever. It was performed at Buxton Fringe and Edinburgh Fringe in 2019.

Osgood said, “I hope we can shine a spotlight on the difficulties schools are facing with government cuts. I also hope a key takeaway is the importance of arts education within our schools and how it helps develop the social and moral compass of our young people as well as teaching key skills.”

Special Measures will be available from 6PM on Saturday 11 July on all podcast platforms.
