Blackpool Grand Theatre general manager and chief executive Neil Thomson is to step down from his post later this year.

Neil began as deputy stage manager but took over responsibility for the entire backstage operation winning many accolades from visiting companies for his skill on the Grand’s exceptionally small stage.

He project-managed many of the improvement to this much-loved theatre including the restoration of the Grand’s auditorium. He became CEO and general manager in 2007.

He says: “I am proud of everything our hard-working team at the Theatre has achieved during the period of my watch. In order to build on these achievements I think the time has come to pass the torch to a younger person. Having spent over half my working life at the Grand, I will never be far away, and always available to assist in any way in the future.”
