More than 27,000 people saw events at the 2013 Buxton Festival Fringe—up 11% on the previous year’s figure.

Total spend in the Buxton area by Fringe audiences and performers contributed more than half a million pounds to the local economy, according to Fringe management.

Free events including visual arts exhibitions proved a big attraction.

There was great satisfaction among performers at the 2013 Fringe, with one commenting “Buxton is by far the most organised and pleasant fringe experience we’ve encountered so far.”

Fringe chair Stephanie Billen said, “Free events are very important to us and it’s great to see the Fringe reaching the wider Buxton public through big outdoor occasions as well as the myriad events taking place all over the town.”
