Buxton Fringe, which has reported some “inevitable” cancellations, has 60 entries, many of them online, and has come up with a novel idea for those who do not have access to the Internet.
Fringe performers including Mike Raffone, Sam Slide, Will Hawthorne and Debbie Cannon will offer 5- to 10-minute micro-performances down a phone. Anyone interested in receiving a Phone@5 call should ring 01298 79351 to book one of the 5PM slots from 6 until 10 July and 13 until 17 July. People will be able to choose from music, comedy, poetry and stories.
Fringe marketing officer Stephanie Billen said, “if you’ve been feeling a bit isolated or in need of a boost, this is your chance to bring a little Buxton Fringe stardust into your life.”
Some involve live-streamed productions and many have an interactive element. There are also a few physical events including children's entertainment.
Buxton Fringe will be held from Wednesday 1 until Sunday 19 July.
