Candoco Dance Company, leading contemporary dance company of disabled and non-disabled performers, brings its new double bill, CounterActs to the Grand Theatre, Blackpool on Wednesday October 21 and presents commissions from two of the most exciting artistic talents working in the UK today.

Following a UK tour in autumn 2014, Hetain Patel’s Let’s Talk About Dis returns to the stage with a mischievous piece that interrogates questions of what identity is and how it is formed.

Alexander Whitley, another Sadler’s Wells New Wave Associate, creates visually striking dance pieces that incorporate expressive movement. Set to a score by composer Nils Frahm and reworked by Rutger Zuydervelt, his new work for Candoco is an emotive piece performed with reckless flair.

Candoco’s Artistic Co-Director Stine Nilsen said, “Alexander's work is absorbing and elegant, pushing the dancers’ movement skills into new areas and wanting to evoke a visceral connection with the audience.”
