Baroness Beverley Hughes with young people from Salford, celebrating creative projects funded by The Lowry’s Christmas Appeal

Young people from Salford, staff from The Lowry and guests came together to celebrate the impact of the arts on the lives of young people in the region.

Chief executive of The Lowry Julia Fawcett joined Lowry trustee Baroness Beverley Hughes at a House of Lords event hosted by the former Minister for Children, Young People and Families to celebrate the power of the arts and the impact of culture and creativity in young people’s lives.

Young people from Salford were accompanied by Head of BBC North Peter Salmon and Salford MPs Hazel Blears and Barbara Keeley at the Westminster event to unveil a film project, which was only made possible by the venue’s 2011 Christmas Appeal.

The young carers involved in the film project saw the production through from its inception, from appointing the film and production company, to writing the script and securing star guest Maxine Peake.
