Derby Theatre is to hold its third Culture Cares conference which will aim to explore what makes a positive impact on the lives of young people in care and care leavers.
One of the highlights of the conference which will take place on Thursday 24 October will be a performance, co-created and presented by Plus One Youth Theatre, in response to Ross Willis’s Wonder Boy. The play is about Sonny, a young boy who stammers. The Bristol Old Vic production of Wonder Boy will also be presented at Derby Theatre from Tuesday 22 until Saturday 26 October.
The day will consist of keynote speakers, breakout sessions, performances and interviews. Joining the conference are retired athlete Fatima Whitbread MBE and music producer and DJ Goldie. They are both care-experienced and will share their stories, reflections and insights with delegates.
