Reaching for new heights: Tony Maudsley, the Chuckle Brothers and Chico

The Chuckle Brothers, Tony Maudsley and Chico head the cast of Nottingham Theatre Royal’s 2016 panto Jack and the Beanstalk.

The Chuckle Brothers will play Jack’s brothers Paul and Barry Trot. They are known to generations of children for their TV show Chucklevision and in 2008 were presented with a BAFTA award for services to British children’s television.

Tony Maudsley will make his debut as a panto dame. He has been a series regular in the TV series Benidorm since 2011, playing hairdresser Kenneth Du Beke. Earlier in 2016, he took the role of Edna Turnblad in the tour of the musical Hairspray.

Taking the title role of Jack Trot is Chico who was a finalist in the second series of The X Factor. He previously played Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk at Rotherham Civic Theatre in 2011.

Executive producer Jonathan Kiley said, “we’re absolutely thrilled to have such a talented comedy line-up leading the cast in Nottingham’s biggest pantomime, guaranteeing a real treat for young and old alike. This year’s show is already shaping up to be our biggest Nottingham pantomime yet.”

Jack and the Beanstalk will run at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham from Saturday 10 December until Sunday 15 January 2017.
