NTC (Northumberland Theatre Company) has issued a casting call for two new projects in September / October and December / January.

First is Heartspur, a new play with music by Bob Shannon. It’s the story of Harry Hotspur and the battle of Shrewsbury, set in gangland Newcastle in 1963, described as “Henry IV Part 1 meets Get Carter meets Six-Five Special: a jukebox tragedy.”

The December and January production is The Little Maid who danced to every mood, adapted from Helena Nyblom's Scandinavian children's adventure by new writer Laura Jayne Ayres. Through dance, song and physical theatre, we follow our heroine on her journey to find her true place in the world.

There will two audition workshop days on 30 April and 1 May from 10:00 to 6:00, casting for both Heartspur and The Little Maid.

The audition call says:

We're looking for both principal actors and trainee roles, so if you're interested please e-mail a covering letter specifying whether you would like to apply for a principal or trainee position along with a CV and headshot. Please bear in mind we have limited spaces and it'll be first come, first served, so get applications in quickly!

If your application for audition is successful, all we'll need you to do is to prepare two short audition pieces (ideally no longer than two minutes) and a song that you think are appropriate to the two shows. Simple!

All roles are paid, and accommodation is provided throughout both the rehearsals and the tours.
