Set in 1989, Vienna is “an amusing tale of obsession” by award-winning writer Mike Francis Carvalho.
It features Ultravox fan Barry who visits his ex-girlfriend and is faced with a dilemma. Things don't turn out as expected even though he asks himself: “What would Midge Ure do?”
In the late 1970s Carvalho moved to Bristol due to a connection with the Old Vic theatre company.
It was during that period—the era of new wave music—that a chance encounter with Midge Ure and his band led to a fascination that has remained with Carvalho.
Featuring Amir Rahimzadeh and Sharon Heywood, Vienna visits Buxton Fringe as part of a summer tour. The Gerundagula Productions show will be performed in the Hydro Restaurant and Bar, Buxton from Thursday until Saturday (4 to 6 July) at 8PM.
