Chantelle Nolan getting ready as Ugly Sister

Theatre manager Chantelle Nolan found out the hard way that ‘the show must go on!’, when she stepped into the outrageous wigs, make-up and costumes of one of her own panto Ugly Sisters.

Actress Charlie Griffiths who plays one half of the Ugly Sister duo in Cinderella at St Helens Theatre Royal, along with comedian Crissy Rock, came down with a bad virus during the Boxing Day performance.

She was so ill she was unable to do the curtain call or three subsequent performances. So enter Chantelle Nolan...

“There was no choice, I had to go on myself, I also directed and produced the Panto so there was simply nobody else who knew the role, who could do it, or stand in at such short notice. It has been a very long time since I have trod the boards and I certainly didn’t think I would return with such short notice.”

Regal Entertainments’ Cinderella runs until January 10.

As well as Charlie Griffiths and Crissy Rock, the show also stars soap star baddie Marc Baylis.
