A new production of Chicago is to start at Leicester’s Curve—five years to the day since the Queen opened the building.

A cast of musical and West End performers will be led by Verity Rushworth as Velma Kelly, Gemma Sutton as Roxie Hart and David Leonard as Billy Flynn.

The production will be the centrepiece of the theatre’s fifth birthday season and throughout the run Curve will present a series of Chicago-inspired pre-show workshops and free after-show cabaret performances.

Women can learn to strut their stuff like Roxie, Velma and the other glamorous inmates of Cook County Jail with Bijoux Burlesque on three Saturdays, 30 November and 7 and 14 December.

A professional choreographer will explore some of the dance routines from the show in a musical theatre dance workshop on Saturday 4 January.

The Over-55s Experience Curve programme continues with a theatre day on Wednesday 11 December in which Curve’s artistic team look into the process of theatre making. There will be an opportunity to meet some of the Chicago cast and crew before the matinée performance.

Fans of the show can enjoy a reading of the original stage play of Chicago on Saturday 11 January.

On Friday nights the Chicago party will continues with free post-show burlesque cabaret performances on Curve’s foyer stage on 6, 13 and 20 December.

Directed by Curve’s artistic director Paul Kerryson, Chicago previews from Friday 29 November. It opens on Wednesday 4 December and has extended its run until 18 January.
