Chichester's 2020 Festival, unveiled by Artistic Director Daniel Evans and Executive Director Kathy Bourne, will comprise five world premières—including first plays by Steven Moffat and Kate Mosse and new work by Suhayla El-Bushra and Christopher Shinn—and revivals of modern dramas.

The premières are The Unfriendly by Steven Moffat, The Long Song adapted by Suhayla El-Bushra, The Taxidermist's Daughter by Kate Mosse, and The Narcissist by Christopher Shinn.

The revivals are Brecht's The Life of Galileo with Henry Goodman, directed by Jonathan Church and translated by David Edgar, Muriel Spark's The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie adapted by Jay Presson Allen and directed by Rachel Kavanaugh, Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing directed by Simon Evans, The Village Bike by Penelope Skinner directed by Nicole Charles and Sarah Kane's Crave directed by Tinuke Craig.

There will also be musical revivals of Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific and Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Assassins.

Evans and Bourne said, "we are proud to have some of the UK's most exciting artists working with us in Chichester in 2020 and we're introducing repertory for two productions with The Taxidermist's Daughter alongside Assassins in the Festival Theatre. Assassins also plays opposite The Narcissist in the Minerva, both shedding an entertaining and probing light on American politics and psyche as the US approaches the presidential election.

“Our extensive work in the local community continues to thrive through innovative and creative programmes ranging from work with refugees and primary children to dementia-friendly initiatives."
