Birmingham Royal Ballet is looking for 30 Birmingham-based boys and girls aged eight to ten to be part of Luna, a new ballet which will receive its world première at Birmingham Hippodrome in October 2024.

The company invites children with no formal training for a series of free, informal one-hour workshops at BRB in Birmingham city centre on Sunday 24 March. The children will work closely with Dutch choreographer Wubkje Kuindersma and British choreographer Arielle Smith.

Luna is “inspired by the pioneering and socially enterprising women of Birmingham who have contributed to the shape of the city that BRB call home”. It is the final part of BRB director Carlos Acosta’s Birmingham Trilogy that includes City of a Thousand Trades and Black Sabbath – The Ballet.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 19 March. There will be 30 places for each workshop. Further details are available at the Birmingham Royal Ballet web site.

Luna will run at Birmingham Hippodrome from Thursday 3 until Saturday 5 October before its London première at Sadler’s Wells on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 October.
